“The best cover version ever” – Ed Stasium (The Ramones producer)
“What an absolute corker!” – Jim Gellatly (Amazing Radio)
THE NEW PICCADILLYS are a four piece beat group from Glasgow, Scotland combining a 1960s sound with a 1970s punk rock sensibility. Twanging guitars, pounding drums and shiny suits provide the backdrop to their tightly harmonised, toe tappin’ and twistin’ versions of classics such as Ramones’ JUDY IS A PUNK (the band’s debut single) and COMPLETE CONTROL by the Clash.
Their live set contains many other gems from various musical genes and eras, performed with unbridled energy and peppered with acts or musical irreverence and cultural vandalism.
Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan have all been subjected to the New Picadillys rock ’n’ roll mash up machine.
The New Picadillys have performed at various festivals in the UK and abroad, frequently stealing the show with their unashamedly entertaining performances. Their debut album “INTRODUCING”…THE NEW PICADILLYS featuring sleeve notes by renowned critic Count Arthur Strong is out now on Germany’s Soundflat Records. The promo video for the forthcoming COMPLETE CONTROL single features marionettes of the band in a miniature recording studio with puppets of Joe Strummer and Mick Jones overseeing the proceedings.
